YAG Laser Capsulotomy is a quick, painless laser procedure used to restore clear vision after cataract surgery. Over time, some patients develop a cloudy membrane behind their replacement lens, known as posterior capsule opacification (PCO), which can cause blurred vision, glare, and difficulty seeing clearly. A YAG laser creates a small opening in this membrane, allowing light to pass through freely and restoring the sharp vision achieved after cataract surgery.
The treatment is performed in an outpatient setting and usually takes only a few minutes. There are no incisions or stitches required, and most patients notice an improvement in their vision within hours or days following the procedure.
