Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins by sealing the affected vein from the inside using laser energy. Rather than removing the vein through traditional surgery, a fine laser fibre is inserted into the vein through a small incision, causing the vein to close and allowing blood to naturally reroute through healthy veins.
EVLT is performed under local anaesthetic, requires no large incisions, and typically allows patients to return to normal daily activities much sooner than conventional vein surgery. The procedure effectively relieves symptoms such as aching, heaviness, swelling, and discomfort while also improving the appearance of varicose veins.
